Briefing

Robert: [sadly] Sorry to call on you while you're just preparing to move. But it seems the situation has changed. Give us a rundown, Amelia.

Amelia: Yes, sir. We have word that the enemy has taken the city of Armagest. Their forces have occupied the Chiron Lift. With that under their control they'll be able to quadruple their resupply effort.

Lilia: So here are your orders. All Delta units are to be dispatched immediately. Eliminate the enemies and stop the cargo resupply effort. That is all.

Ruth: Stop the resupply? That means we'll have to hit the cargo section, too, right?

Lilia: That's right.

Brian: [angry] No way!! Isn't that public property? Besides, that's a vital supply channel for hitting the enemy in orbit.

Lilia: What's your point?

Brian: What?!

Lilia: Just what do you think they're sending anyway? Maybe weapon prototypes, scientists... Maybe even the leaders of a completely decimated OCC...

Brian: ......

Lilia: What if that kind of stuff gets out there? I'd rather damage public property than let that happen any day.

Robert: [turns neutral] Anyway, we're not asking you to completely destroy it. Just attack it, that's all. In fact, we do not want the Chiron Lift permanently destroyed.

Lilia: Now quit whining and hit the road!

Robert: All units, move out! Recapture the Chiron Lift and stop those cargo shipments!

Jamie: Roger!

Holst: Roger that!

Ruth: Roger!

[briefing ends]

Ken: (if not being played as) That voice! ...It's Ellen!

Ellen: You! The one that won't get out of my head!

Ken: (if not being played as) Don't you know who I am?

Ellen: If I destroy you, I'll be complete!

Ken: (if not being played as) And if you were gone, maybe things would be easier for me too, huh?

Ellen: Then die! Right now!

Ken: (if not being played as) Can I really do it...? Can I shoot her...?!

Ellen: Coward! Why won't you stand and fight?

Ken: (if not being played as) Sorry, but business first.

Ellen: Storm and the others don't matter now! All I want is to kill you!

Secretary: Yes, sir!

Donald: (if shot down first) But I'd worked it all out...

Ellen: (if Donald is shot down first) Machine, eject! Machine!

Donald: (if shot down first) I couldn't become a machine. Was it some flaw...or just a mistake?

Ellen: (if Donald is shot down first) Machine! Do you copy?!

Donald: (if shot down first) Ah, now at last I can go and join her... [dies]

Ellen: (if Donald is shot down first) Damn you! He was a good pilot! You'll pay for that! (if shot down after Donald) You've been lucky today. I'll leave you with your life! This is Doll, ejecting. (if shot down first) End of the line... Eject!

Donald: (if Ellen is shot down first) My calculations were wrong?! This isn't what I predicted... (if shot down after Ellen) How could I have miscalculated...? Ah, now I can follow her... I'm...tired...of it all... [dies]

[after a certain number of fighters including Donald and/or Ellen are shot down, Amelia may say any of the following three lines]

Assistant Officer: You don't need to come and tell me that!

Secretary: O-of course... So sorry!

Amelia: Nomad to all units. Confirming start of lift's ascent. Stop the lift in its preliminary stages, before 45000 feet (15000 meters. in the PAL version). It will be impossible to stop it after that. The lift has an emergency stop when impacts exceed set limits. We'll use that to our advantage. The 3 green lights at the lift's base are the anti-shock unit. Its location is being sent to your HUDs. Attack the fighters with your on-board ordnance.

[if neither Donald nor Ellen are shot down at this point, the game will randomly decide which character speaks at this point. If one is shot down, but the other is not, the latter's respective lines will be said]

Donald: (if not shot down at this point) This is Machine. Target has passed designated altitude. Commencing transition to program B. Machine to all Troll and Orc units. Make immediate switch to program B. [flees the battlefield]

Orc: (if Donald's line above is said) Copy that. [flees the battlefield]

Amelia: (if Donald's line above is said) Enemy fighters commencing withdrawal. All Delta units, focus on the lift. Do not give pursuit.

Ellen: (if not shot down at this point) This is Doll. Target has passed designated altitude. Switching to program order B. Doll to all units. Switch to program order B. All units, carry out your tasks. That is all. [flees the battlefield]

Amelia: (if Ellen's line above is said) Enemy fighters have begun to withdraw. All Delta units, focus on the lift. Do not give pursuit.

[if Donald and Ellen are both shot down at this point, the following two lines will be said]

Orc: Dammit! The target has passed point A. All units, switch to plan C! [flees the battlefield]

Amelia: Nomad to all units. Do not engage the enemy fighters. Concentrate on the lift. The time remaining for attack is running out.

Amelia: Lift altitude confirmed, 15000 feet (5000 meters. in the PAL version).

Jamie: (if playing as a 3rd Element character, Rick, or Alex) Argh...! The lady packs a punch!

Rick: (if playing as a 3rd Element character, Jamie, or Alex) Shogun, are you okay?!

Jamie: (if playing as a 3rd Element character, Rick, or Alex) The tin can is creakin' a bit...!

Alex: (if playing as a 3rd Element character, Jamie, or Rick) Shogun, you can't push that thing any further!

Jamie: (if playing as a 3rd Element character, Rick, or Alex) Shaddup! What do you know anyway?

Rick: (if playing as a 3rd Element character, Jamie, or Alex) Shogun, even a prop-plane has its limits!

Operator 1: Entering secondary thrust altitude. Commencing thrust!

Amelia: Lift altitude confirmed, 45000 feet (15000 meters. in the PAL version). Lift has started second thrust. It is impossible to stop it now. The mission has failed. Please return home.

Secretary: It, it has to be the enemy's attack.

Assistant Officer: No! They'll have my ass for this! I'm finished!

[mission ends]

Post-Mission Cutscene (Corruption)

[from Pierre Gallo's point of view, looking at his HUD showing E.D.A.F. MiG-29SMT "Fulcrum Cs"]

Pierre: That's it, huh. [his screen turns off and the cutscene shows E.D.A.F. MiG-29SMTs flying towards the Chiron Lift]

Unknown: Don't shoot! We surrender!

Pierre: What the...?! You'll pay for that! [flying an unknown spacecraft, he fires a powerful laser at the lift, causing it to explode and slowly break up. One of the lift's remains strikes a MiG-29SMT, destroying it]

Amelia: Nomad, calling all units! Emergency! The lift...the orbital lift is starting to break up!

[post-mission cutscene ends with a close up of the burning lift]

Debriefing (if Ellen was not unlocked)

[in hallway]

Amelia: [feeling sad] ...

Lilia: [offscreen] Amelia!

Amelia: [turns neutral and Lilia appears onscreen and is angry] Oh! Lilia!

Lilia: Don't "Oh! Lilia!" me! We've got to go!

Amelia: Where are we going?

Lilia: To the operations room, of course! I'm so busy, I need all the help I can get right now. Now get going!

Amelia: Yes, ma'am.

[they head to the operations room]

Robert: Oh, Lilia! I've been waiting for you. We just got the second batch of operation reports.

Lilia: Oh, let me see, Commander! ...Hey, what's up with this? The observation data and these reports are incoherent!

Robert: [nervous] Well, what do you expect? This is all happening so quickly. Everything's in a state of confusion.

Lilia: Yeah, but how am I supposed to make plans based on this garbage? ...Amelia!

Amelia: Yes, ma'am?

Lilia: [calms down] Sorry, but could you organize this info a little better? Just rearrange the data so it makes sense, okay?

Amelia: ...Uh... all right...

Lilia: [angry] Hey, what's the matter with you? Hop to it! There's lots of work to be done!

Amelia: [sadly] It's just... Chiron Tower...

Lilia: Huh?

Amelia: I went to see it, you know. With my mother and father. First trip I ever took abroad. That lift was so beautiful...!

Lilia: [calms down] Amelia...

Amelia: That place has such special memories for me. But now...

Robert: [calms down and smiles] Amelia, listen to me.

Amelia: Yes, Commander...?

Robert: Sorry if this sounds trite, but... Amelia, facilities, buildings--they can be rebuilt anytime. All it takes is time and money.

Amelia: But...

Robert: [sternly] But we can't rebuild the human race. If Chiron falls, do you have any idea of what a disaster that would be?

Amelia: ...

Robert: Our duty is to protect the people. And as long as you're with us, it has to be your duty, too. Do you understand?

Amelia: ...Yes, sir.

Robert: [grins] Okay. Well, take care of that data, then. We have to fully understand the situation before we can get started.

Amelia: [calms down and smiles] Yes, sir!

[transitions to O.C.C. side in their hangar]

Ellen: [angry] Damn that pale blue jet! [worried] He gets me so worked up! I'm afraid I...

Albert: ...could not win again, Doll?

Ellen: Yes, Lead! I'm sorry. I was careless. I let that pale blue jet get the better of me again.

Albert: [smiles and folds his arms] Well, have you ever thought about exactly why that might be?

Ellen: Pardon? I don't really know what you mean.

Albert: [frowns] I mean, why do you think Pale Blue gets you so upset? Have you thought about it?

Ellen: [angry] No, I've been so busy training. I haven't had time to think.

Albert: No? ...Well, never mind, then.

Ellen: Yes, sir! Then if you'll excuse me... [leaves]

Albert: Damn, I don't think my questioning her gave her much of a shock at all. ... There isn't much more time. I'll leave Doll as a chess piece for later.

[debriefing ends]

Debriefing (if Ellen was unlocked)

Ken: [distressed] ...

Ruth: ...Second Lieutenant Thomas.

Ken: Oh, Ruth. What do you want?

Ruth: [worried] Was she there? Ellen... I mean.

Ken: [angry] Yeah. I could tell it was her even over the radio. I could never mistake that voice. Ellen is... the enemy... ...

Ruth: [calms down] So what do you want to do, Lieutenant?

Ken: [distressed] Do? Me? I don't know. I have no idea! I never imagined this even in my worst nightmare... Ellen and I... enemies! I never thought our worlds could be so far apart. I-I wish I could just run away from it all somehow!

Lilia: [offscreen] Don't you dare even think about quitting on us!

Ruth: Lilia!

Lilia: [appears onscreen and is angry] I don't care what your reasons for joining Delta were, but you're one of us now. We need you and we're not letting you go.

Ruth: [offscreen] But...! Lieutenant Thomas isn't stable right now. You should at least let him take some leave!

Lilia: The Chiron lift is about to crumble and fall. If all those fragments hit Earth, it'll be a horrible catastrophe.

Ken: [turns neutral] ...

Lilia: I'm coming up with a plan now to stop that from happening. If you have to quit, wait until after the plan's been carried out.

Ken: ...

Lilia: Have you got that?!

Ken: ...Yeah.

Lilia: Okay, then. Take a minute and then report to the briefing room! [leaves]

Ruth: [appears onscreen and is worried] Lieutenant Thomas, are you sure you can go through with this?

Ken: ...Yeah, I don't mind. Going out on a mission is a whole lot better than sitting around thinking. I'm all right now. Don't worry about me, Ruth. [leaves]

Ruth: Lieutenant Thomas...

[transitions to O.C.C. side in their hangar]

Doctor: [offscreen] Hurry! Patient critical!

Ellen: [in pain] ...Uhn! ...Ke... n...

Doctor: The mind control is slipping! Check the crystal!

Technician: [offscreen] ...The operation rate has dropped significantly! This could be a problem.

Doctor: This calls for emergency measures! Get her to the operating room!

Albert: [offscreen] ...Hold it right there.

Doctor: Yikes! Who are you?

Albert: [appears onscreen and is smiling with his arms folded] I'm Doll's superior officer.

Doctor: This is an emergency! I'm going to have to ask you to step aside!

Albert: I know it's an emergency. That's why I'm not moving.

Doctor: What?!

Albert: [angrily beats up and knocks out the Doctor] Hahn!

Doctor: Oomph!

Albert: [angrily beats up and knocks out the technician] Uhn!

Technician: Grmph!

Albert: [calms down] Now, then...

Ellen: [angry] L-Lead...

Albert: [smiles] Don't try to talk, Doll. Or should I say, "Ellen McNichol"?

Ellen: [nervous] I... I...

Albert: [frowns] As long as you're around, Pale Blue won't take me on. So I'll just have to get rid of you, Ellen Doll.

Ellen: Ke... n...
