- "Although this is a release-type, you can lock on to drop toward a target. Even without locking on, it is as powerful as unguided bombs because you can damage surroundings as well."
The Small Guided Bomb is a rare bomb-type special weapon in Airforce Delta Strike. The weapon does exactly as it says on the tin; it's a small bomb weapon that can lock onto enemies. It has a poor splash radius. Although this may seem bad, it has one particular use, thanks to a loophole. Upon selecting the weapon, a pip will appear on the ground, indicating an estimate of where the bomb will land. Unlike other bomb-type special weapons, however, when an enemy is in lock-on range, the pip will target the enemy and turn red, locking onto them like a missile lock. Dropping a bomb will then cause the bomb to fly straight at the target.
The weapon is incredibly rare, only appearing on two aircraft. For both aircraft, it costs 50,000 credits to purchase.
Uses[]
This weapon (along with its larger brethren, the Large Guided Bomb) has one particularly notorious benefit; despite being a guided weapon, thanks to the fact that it's a bomb, it still confers a x3 cash bonus upon a kill! This makes it great to use to make money, as the weapon is guided and generally accurate on a non-moving target, so it's very easy to rake in cash. However, using it as an actual bomb is somewhat ineffective thanks to the poor splash radius.
Pros[]
- Great at anti ground operations
- Weapon is a guided bomb; this will always get a x3 cash bonus upon a kill, combined with locking on
- Deals heavy damage to ground targets
Cons[]
- Impossible to use on air targets, unless you practically fly into them to release the bomb on top of them
- Less ammo than unguided bombs; 20 vs 50
- Pathetic splash damage; only good as a "second missile" type weapon
- Weapon cannot adjust aim in mid flight; if fired at a moving target, it is possible for the weapon to miss
