Briefing[]
Robert: Let's get down to business. Lilia?
Lilia: Yes, sir. Your target is the Mars polar cap. More precisely, the huge floating fortress orbiting it. As for details...we have none.
Ruth: ...... (says 'Huh?')
John: ...... (grunts)
Ken: .........
Lilia: The aliens' weapons are too mysterious for us to even try to guess about. So the details are, well, unknown. Our recon pod was destroyed before it had a chance to do anything. Still, we have orders to infiltrate. To be honest, I'm not sure what to do. Should I send you out or not?
Robert: [angry] Lilia!
Lilia: [angry] I know, I know! That's inappropriate at a time like this! But I can't send my team out with zero intel! We've had data for all our other missions so far. I've been able to roughly calculate the chances for survival. Like that fleet battle--I dispatched you because I was sure you'd come back alive. But this time, I don't have anything! No data and no strategy! And no idea of your chances, either! How can I send you out like this?!
Ruth: Lilia...
Ken: [smiles] There are never any guarantees in war. It's up to us to win, up to us to come home alive. And we have every reason to want to win.
John: [smiles] That's right. It's the hunters that get the meat. The prey...all they get is death.
Ruth: [smiles] That's right. None of us want to die. I'm way too young to die. That's for sure. But what's more important is, we have a reason to win.
Lilia: [troubled] But...
Robert: [smiles] Lilia...
Lilia: What?
Robert: Listen to them. Let them go.
Lilia: But I...
Robert: These are veterans... They've faced death time and time again. They want to go. They need to do this. And sometimes our job has to be to let them go.
Lilia: .........
Robert: Lilia...
Lilia: [calms down] There's some sort of sphere in the center and lower part of the fortress that's emitting a huge amount of energy. That might be what's making it float. So...
Ken: If we take that out of commission, the fort'll fall...
Lilia: It's just a guess--well, more like a hunch! I know it's not exactly hard data...
Ruth: [sternly] Sometimes you have to learn to trust your hunches in battle. [smiles] Thank you, Lilia.
John: I could care less about stuff like that.
Ken: All we need is something to act on. As long as we have that, we have hope.
Lilia: Thank you...
Robert: [sternly] Right, your orders are as follows. Delta Squadron 3rd Element, move out! Use all means necessary to take care of the enemy stronghold--and return at any cost!!
Ruth: Roger!!
John: Roger that.
Ken: Roger wilco!
Robert: [smiles] Go get 'em!
Lilia: ......
Ruth: [frowns] Lilia...
Lilia: These alien geeks have no business being in our solar system. [angry] Nobody said they could land on Mars, either. Go tell them to get the hell out of our neighborhood!
Ruth: [smiles] Yes, ma'am!
[briefing ends]
Mission[]
Amelia: It's the final battle. There is nothing else I can tell you. Except to come home victorious. From the info we do have, it seems there's a core in there somewhere. Find it and destroy it.
Adjutant: Enemy carrier-based craft have breached the air defense zone. All ships, commence mutual air defense volley!!!
Chief: All units, commence fire!
Adjutant: All guns, fire!
Amelia: We've got some new intel! The core is protected by an outer shell. It's useless to attack that.
Ruth: (if not being played as) How can we destroy it then?
Ken: (if not being played as) So...what are we supposed to do?
Ellen: (if unlocked and not being played as) What should we do then?
John: (if not being played as) ...Get on with it!
Amelia: Don't rush me! I'm sending the info to your HUDs. Use the information to attack the sphere with a high energy reading.
Ruth: (if not being played as) So...you want us to destroy them all, right?
Ken: (if not being played as) So we need to zap them all, huh?
Ellen: (if unlocked and not being played as) We need to destroy them?
John: (if not being played as) Just demolish 'em, right?
Amelia: That is correct.
Ruth: (if not being played as) Okay. Piece of cake.
Ken: (if not being played as) Roger.
Ellen: (if unlocked and not being played as) I copy.
John: (if not being played as) ...Hmm...
Operator: (if the player destroys a Type-S3: SBB) Hit on the starboard side! The stabilizer unit...!
Operator: (if the player destroys two Type-S3: SBBs) Hit on the port side! Fire!
Operator: (if the player destroys three Type-S3: SBBs) The central unit's been hit!
Operator: (if the player destroys four Type-S3: SBBs) Fire in Engine Room 1!
[if the player destroys all five Type-S3: SBBs, the following four lines will be said]
Operator: Engine Room 2, please respond!
Chief: Damn! It's too much! All crew, prepare to abandon ship!
Adjutant: Chief! Hurry!
Chief: Get a move on!
[after the player destroys one Energy Core, the following six lines are said]
Amelia: Hmm, this reading... A strong energy current is being generated. We don't know what's going to happen... Be very careful!
Operator: The energy reading from the land has disappeared!
Ceres Chief: What?! Turn the ship around!
Ceres Adjutant: Roger. Reversing to heading 0-0-1.
Ceres Chief: Then contact all ships. They're to turn around and switch to Phase A.
Operator: Roger. I'll pass on the order.
[after the player destroys two Energy Cores, the following two lines are said]
Amelia: Looks like there is an energy reading. What could it mean?
Adjutant: Hold it! Wait for my word!
[after the player destroys three Energy Cores, the following two lines are said]
Amelia: I've been able to confirm an energy current! It's unclear where the current is flowing. All units, use caution.
Chief: Stand firm! We can't afford to lose!
Amelia: (after the player destroys four Energy Cores) Oh! I've been able to detect a high energy reading! It's flowing to some sort of core in the central area! Please investigate!
Amelia: (after the player destroys all five Energy Cores) The energy being supplied to the core is increasing! Be careful! Who knows what could happen!
Amelia: (when the Core Dome opens up when the player approaches it) It appears the core has opened! Attack it!
Amelia: (after the player destroys the Core Dome) Destruction of the core confirmed. Huh, what the...?!
[mission ends]
Post-Mission Cutscene (Fake Ground)[]
[shows a destroyed Type-S3: SBB and the fortress which suddenly breaks up and reveals a large, strange crystalline portal]
Ruth: Let's get in there!
[post-mission cutscene ends with the Delta pilots flying into the portal]
