There are five submarines you have to destroy and no other enemies in the air or water (except for two planes in the PAL version), making this one of the simplest missions in the game. Be careful while attacking the submarines, though. They launch missiles at you like crazy.
- Destroy all targets.
The reward for this mission is 50,000 credits. Since there are only five targets in this level and 5,000 credits is all you can earn from destroying any of them, either with missiles or guns in this game, all you can earn from this mission is 75,000 credits. In the PAL version, however, the amount can be varied thanks to the two planes present. The F-117 Nighthawk is also unlocked for 320,000 credits.
An emergency warning has come in from our Coastal Patrol squadron. They have spotted an unidentified object in the water. It's probably a United Forces attack submarine. Since we have little naval strength in the area, it's up to you to respond. Your mission is to find the United Forces attack submarine and sink it. Over and out.
Delta Leader: (When mission is selected on the map) Our mission this time is to sink a submarine we think belongs to the United Forces. Keep your guard up.
[no dialogue in mission]
Fangs of the Sea
The reward for this mission is 40,000 credits. Since there are only five targets in this level and 8,000 credits is all you can earn from destroying any of them, either with missiles or guns in this game, all you can earn from this mission is 80,000 credits. In the PAL version though, you can earn a variable amount thanks to the two planes present. The XF-0001 Mercury is unlocked for 480,000 credits.
- The enemies in this level are S.S.B.N. Ohios rather than S.S.B.N. T.K.208s. Also, in the PAL version, the enemy planes are F-26A Shrikes instead of Su-34 Platypuses.
- The sky in this level is a cloudy and gray sunset while the sky in Lying in Wait is an orange and blue sunset.
- In the PAL version of these missions, enemy planes actually appear. As noted in the mission headers, Su-34s appear in Lying in Wait, and F-26A Shrikes appear in Fangs of the Sea.
