The Island Fortress is the eighteenth mission in the original Airforce Delta. It involves attacking a heavily armed fortress.
Briefing[]
The Federation capital has been liberated by our ground forces.
The leaders of the People's Federation have moved their operations to the fortified off-shore city of Meloss, and are calling for continued fighting.
We will neutralize this fortress city; you have orders for an all-out assault.
We know very little about this site.
Proceed with caution.
Walkthrough[]
Your only targets are ground enemies this time around; in fact, ALL of them are targets. There are eight planes flying around, but they're not required kills.
This is, again, a fairly simple mission. There are a decent number of Gun and Missile pods, but they are fairly well scattered and not that much of a threat. Blow them all up! It's a big, wide-open arena with loads of ground targets and some planes to go after if you desire. What else is there to say?
But once you win and leave, we suddenly see an in-game cutscene! What a rarity. Anyway, the city opens up and reveals... A fortress inside of the fortress! Because that makes sense. But it looks like the fight isn't over yet!

Trivia[]
- The cutscene after the mission shows off the enemy YF-23, F-14D, and F-22 (normal enemy, not the target) that will appear in the next mission.
- The cutscene after the mission plays an extended version of the title screen music.
