Nuclear Transport Blockade is the ninth mission in the original Airforce Delta. It involves destroying trains before they can escape into tunnels and out of the battlefield.

Briefing[]

We have information from one of the freed prisoners that the People's Federation is exchanging uranium for advanced weaponry with industrialized nations.

Taking out the uranium mine will ensure a drop in the enemy's war capability.

Your mission is to destroy the uranium mine as well as the transport rail line to the north of Khalavar.

Fierce resistance from the enemy is guaranteed, given the strategic importance of these sites.

Good luck.

Walkthrough[]

IMMEDIATELY go after the trains. Do NOT screw around with anything else. There are two different train yards, and four trains in total. You just have to destroy the lead car of the train to stop it. Once the four train cars are destroyed, THEN you can go about and destroy other enemies at your leisure. If the trains are allowed to move, they'll quickly get into areas where you can't attack safely, thus making the job much, much more difficult. But once they're destroyed, you just have to worry about the inherent-10 minute time limit. The two DORAs can't escape the battlefield despite being targets.

As for the DORAs themselves, they're basically gigantic, slow Missile/Gun Pod hybrids. They're not that dangerous. It's very easy to leave them alone to go around and shoot down planes and destroy cargo containers full of uranium (Because that's totally not a radioactive disaster waiting to happen!) and those annoying SAMs parked on top of some of the train cars.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first level to introduce a purely fictional craft (The DORAs).
  • It is never elaborated on what DORA is an acronym for; a likely fan-submitted answer is Defensive On-Rails Artillery.
  • The SAMs aboard the Armed Traincars will always turn to face your plane. They are the only SAMs to do this.
