The Sukhoi Su-24 (NATO reporting name of Fencer) is an aircraft that appears in the PAL and NTSC-J versions of Airforce Delta Storm, and all versions of Airforce Delta Strike. This is Ruth's starter aircraft, and it is also used by the Ganos Flight Army Division.

Origin (Real-Life)[]

The Sukhoi Su-24 is an all-weather attack aircraft developed in the Soviet Union. It was the first of the USSR's aircraft to carry an integrated digital navigation/attack system. This aircraft remains in service with Russia, along with several other countries, to this day. The Su-24M (NATO reporting name of Fencer-D) is an upgraded form of the original Fencer, which would later be superseded by the Su-24M2. Upgrades include a lower fuselage, ability to use guided missiles, and other such minor upgrades.

Design[]

The Su-24 is an interesting craft; it has variable sweep wings, and a twin engine design. It possesses a single vertical stabilizer, giving it a passing resemblance to the Tornado series of aircraft. It also has a single probe on the nose (A design detail that was a part of the Su-24M, as other models had three probes).

Performance[]

Airforce Delta Storm[]

This plane has VERY high stats for an early game plane; Speed and Power are very high, mobility isn't bad, and despite having low attack, it's still got a respectable 58 missiles. However, the biggest downside with this plane, it has a pathetic 1 range, which will hurt it later on in the game. Still, this'll do you quite nicely until you get something better, like the F-15S/MT Active. Of course, this aircraft is PAL exclusive, so if you have the US version, you can't use it.

Airforce Delta Strike[]

Definitely one of the better starter planes in the game. All of its stats, save for anti air, are very decent for an early game plane. It'll do you for quite a while, though once you unlock planes like the Su-30MKI and the F-15E Strike Eagle, this aircraft will cease to have a point, since those planes trump this plane in every department. Still, you could do worse with a starter plane.

Trivia[]

  • Although this aircraft is free in Airforce Delta Strike, this plane's price would technically be 150,000 credits due to how enemy scores are calculated (10% of the plane's cost, hundred-digit numbers rounded up).
  • This is one of two starter planes to be used by the O.C.C., the other being the Su-7BM bis "Fitter A".
