The Saab 37 Viggen (Translating into Thunderbolt) is an aircraft that only appears in the PAL version of Airforce Delta Storm.

Origin (Real-Life)[]

The Saab 37 Viggen was a Swedish single-seat, single engine short-mid range combat craft. Development first began in the 1950s; and the craft first flew in 1967. It was the first canard-design craft to be produced in quantity. It was the most advanced fighter jet in Europe until the Panavia Tornado was released. The aircraft was eventually retired in 2005, being replaced by the even more advanced JAS 39 Gripen.

Design[]

The Viggen is a nice looking plane. It is a relatively small craft, having two large delta wings, and two slightly smaller delta front canards. It has a single engine which takes up the bulk of the rear end, and a single vertical stabilizer. It lacks rear wings, thanks to the delta wings. The design would later be modernized further with the Gripen.

Performance[]

You unlock this aircraft at the exact same time you unlock the Draken; this aircraft is superior to that aircraft in all aspects. However, this aircraft still suffers from the exact same problem the Draken and many other aircraft suffer; you can easily find the hidden Sobel Airbase before you complete the mission to unlock this aircraft. And as a result, you can have access to the mighty F-15S/MT Active, which is, far and away superior to this aircraft. If it weren't for that fact, this airplane would actually be quite good. But it just has that big problem hanging over it. It's not a bad plane by any stretch.
