- "At low altitudes, this lightweight attack craft does well against ground targets, but not in aerial combat. It's a good buy."
The F-5A Freedom Fighter is an aircraft that only appears in Airforce Delta Strike, where it is usable by Alex Levine.
Origin (Real-Life)[]
The F-5A Freedom Fighter was the original model of the famed F-5E Tiger II. The aircraft was developed in the late 1950s, and won the F-X competition. It was deployed in the Cold War in the 1960s as a result. Due to a demand for a more maneuverable aircraft to deal with the Soviet MiG-21 Fishbed, a second competition was started, known as the International Fighter Aircraft competition. The winner would, of course, be the F-5E.
Design[]
This aircraft looks very similar to the F-5E; the basic design is the same: Single-vertical stabilizer, twin engine design, two small wings, the usual. There are very subtle design changes between the aircraft if you look closely enough.
Performance[]
As to be expected, this is a more ground-oriented F-5E. It trades mobility for better defense and anti ground attack. This will be one of the first aircraft that Alex unlocks that comes equipped with machine guns, the other being the Jian-Ji 7 MG. And... You're probably better off using that plane over this. It's basically this plane, but superior in speed and thrust. And with a less awkward special weapon. And it's the exact same price... Yeah...
