Intercept Missions are short, simple missions in Airforce Delta Storm that the player must complete to reach missions or airbases on the map. There are two types of map icons for intercept missions in the game: one is a small circle, which means that once the mission is completed, the player will always be able to move across it no matter what. The other icon type is a larger circle, which means that once the mission is completed, a number will be displayed on it. The number goes down when the player's range drops to zero from them moving around the map enough. When the number on the map icon drops to zero, the player can no longer move across it unless they complete the intercept mission from it again. There are twelve different possible intercept missions in the game.

Trivia[]

  • In the NTSC-U version, all of these missions have a time limit of ten minutes. In the PAL and NTSC-J versions, however, they all have a time limit of five minutes instead.
  • After completing the game once, the player can force select certain intercept mission or override the starting altitude by holding the following button while starting an intercept mission:
    • Hold X to play either air to ground intercept mission (i.e Engaging the Enemy B, Campaign B and C) or air to air intercept missions at low altitude.
    • Hold Y to play air to air intercept missions (i.e Engaging the Enemy A and C, Campaign A or C). Air to ground intercept missions are exempt from the random choice list.

High altitude starts at around 12000 feet/3700 meters while low altitude at around 2300 feet/700 meters. This method works on both campaign (hold the button when selecting the mission) and free mission (hold the button when selecting an aircraft) but it does not apply on naval intercept missions however.
