Briefing[]

Robert: I see you're all here. Lilia? Explain our next mission.

Lilia: Let me read our orders. Delta Squadron 2nd Element will move out immediately. Destroy the interstellar cruise missiles that have been fired at Mars.

Pedro: Where are the missiles now?

Amelia: They've already rammed into the Olympus Mountains[sic] and are now underground.

Brian: [angry] But that means no airplane attack could ever reach them!

Lilia: As a matter of fact, that's wrong. Check this out. The missiles are burrowing horizontally, just under the surface. They've cracked the crust and are flying along the planet's core, looking for magma.

Robert: [irritated] But they're still underground, aren't they? Our planes' bombs won't do much.

Lilia: Keep listening... Amelia, check our topographical probe data. What's in the path of those missiles?

Amelia: ...A volcanic crater and its connecting caves.

Lilia: Where do they come out?

Amelia: One end is in the region around this base.

Holst: In other words, you want us to fly through those underground caves and stop the missiles, huh?

Lilia: You might not always be following the caves, though. The missiles are moving in a straight line, so they might make new passages.

Robert: It's still underground, though. Isn't that a little dangerous?

Lilia: [angry] The missiles are already there. Either we stop them or turn our backs on all those people! Those are our only options.

Robert: [turns neutral] ......

Brian: [turns neutral] Then we attack.

Pedro: Brian...!

Brian: [smiles] Either we do this, or Delta's reputation will be shot. So let's do it. If anyone can do it, we can.

Holst: [smiles] He may not be the best, but he is a Delta pilot. I guess that's about the size of it. ...What do you say, Pedro?

Pedro: [grins] Well, Lead, if you're going, then I'm going, too.

Holst: Then it's settled. Commander, Delta Squadron 2nd Element is heading out to the underground caves. We're gonna intercept those missiles or get fried trying!

Robert: Best of luck to you.

[briefing ends]

Mission[]

Amelia: Information from the sub terrain Mars research station. Interstellar cruise missiles are en route to the base. Eliminate all of them.

Base: We can pinpoint their location from waveforms observed here. We'll send the data as soon as we've got a fix.

Amelia: Copy. That'll help.

Brian: (if playing as Holst) Man, it's hot here, isn't it?

Holst: (if playing as Brian) Amazing place, huh... Sprog, Magician, watch yourselves!

Brian: (if playing as Holst) Lead! Where are you?

Pedro: Wow, it's easy to lose your bearings...

Amelia: (after approximately 39 seconds into the mission) It appears there is a new target!

Base: We're picking up a strong frequency. Transmitting data to you.

Amelia: Location has been fixed from the signals. Sending to your HUDs.

Pedro: Where is the target?

Amelia: (after approximately 1 minute and 9 seconds into the mission) Target is moving very slowly...

Base: It seems the missiles are fitted with augers.

Amelia: What does that mean?

Base: They'll bore straight in here. Right through the bedrocks!

Brian: (if playing as Holst and after approximately 1 minute and 34 seconds have passed) Where is the target?

Holst: (if playing as Brian and after approximately 1 minute and 34 seconds have passed) Where's the target?

Brian: (if playing as Holst) It's so hot... (after approximately 2 minutes and 35 seconds into the mission) Where is the target?

Base: (whenever a missile gets close enough) The pulses are getting stronger! They're close!

Brian: (if playing as Holst) Have we got any info?

Base: (whenever a missile gets really close) H-how can they be so huge?!

Pedro: (after approximately 4 minutes and 30 seconds into the mission) Are the holes closed?

Holst: (if playing as Brian) We don't want to fly down any holes by accident.

Base: (if the base gets hit by too many missiles, the mission will fail and the following line will be said) N-no! Doooon't!

[after all the missiles are destroyed, the following three lines will be said]

Base: The signals have vanished?! Our info came in useful then?

Amelia: It seems so. Elimination of all targets confirmed. Thank you!

Base: So Mars is safe now too?!

[mission ends]

Post-Mission Cutscene (In the dark)[]

Observatory: We've still got one missile left!

Pedro: Duke, that's the last one!

[the people in the observatory panic as the missile approaches it]

Holst: ...Okay! [destroys the missile] Time to head for home.

[the people in the observatory cheer upon learning the missile has been destroyed]

Pedro: Duke...

Brian: Is this the end?

Holst: [holds up a photo] No... It's not over as long as there are still battlefields left to fight on.

Brian: Then let's play the final round.

[post-mission cutscene ends with 2nd Element flying through a hole in the ceiling of the cave]

[credits roll]
